Our CTE Biomedical Pathway explores 2 fields: Patient Care and Biotechnology.
The Patient Care Elective class , Intro to Healthcare Careers, will have students explore diverse occupations involved in the prevention, treatment, and management of illness and the preservation of mental and physical well-being. The Biotechnology Elective class, Exploring Biotechnology, will have students explore diverse occupations involved in the understanding of biology and how it is applied in the laboratory in order to create solutions that will improve the quality of human life. Our CTE Biomedical Pathway is based on CTE, Career Technical Education, which"prepares youth and adults for a wide range of high-wage, high-skill, high-demand careers" (ACTE website) and explores the various careers in the Health Science and Medical Technology industry. Our CTE Biomedical Pathway also supports students by preparing them for courses in local high schools and offering participation in the nationally recognized career technical student organization, HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America).
